Bridge the Distance

Between you and your partner!

BIOGRAPHY

I earned my Doctor of Social Work degree at the University of Pennsylvania and am licensed as a marriage and family therapist by the state of New Jersey. I  hold Diplomate status with the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work, American Institute for Counseling and Psychotherapy, International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy, and the National Association of Social Workers. I am a retired Executive Director of Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern New Jersey.  I have served on the New Jersey Board of Marriage Counselor Examiners. My book, described in the next section, is a portrait of my life growing up in an institution with "a thousand brothers and sisters".

Because of my forty years experience, I have a working familiarity with many contemporary theories of psychotherapy. I adapt my therapy to the individual need of the client.  My therapy is goal focused and short term.  My emphasis is on relationship issues and behavioral change.  I have a clearly defined structure.  Together we determine goals, progress, and when to end.  Counseling and coaching are cost effective and efficient.

EXCERPTS FROM CLIENTS' LETTERS

"I want to thank you so much, Dr. Siegel, for your kindly concern and help through the years.  I consider myself fortunate to have found someone like you to see me through the painful times of my life.  I don't know what I would have done without you." (From a client who had received marital counseling and was grieving the passing of her beloved spouse)

"Dr. Siegel, thank you for your help which left me with food for thought as usual.  I'll check out the nutritionist you suggested before contacting him." (From a client whose depression threatened the stability of the marriage)

"Dr. Siegel, There are not words for me to write to express how I feel about you.  Your guidance and patience that you shared with me will always be remembered.  You are often thought of.  Thank you for all your kindness. " (From a client who was helped through a painful adversarial divorce and custodial conflict)

"Dr. Siegel, You've advised and taught me faithfully....I feel grateful and lucky that you've been there over these many years because among many other things you have taught me to attack problems head on, so then you can move on to the next crisis with a clear head....I want you to know how much I appreciate your compassion and skill in your chosen field and your empathic manner that puts everyone at ease.  Thank you again for your friendship and your teaching." (From a client who comes back for occasional check-ups.)
